I have been writing this post since morning, took time out to watch television, do some school work, read, clean, bathe, cook, eat, talk to family and future family and finally do more work. Sad as it sounds, gave me another post to write about, so yay!
Procrastination, is the topic of the day, it's so easy for us, who are all on the path to success somehow, to be distracted by the shiny and glitzy side streets called "Easy Lane" and "Do it Soon Avenue."
I fall prey to those attractive streets often myself, nice to kick back and take a load off, nothing wrong with the R &R, but don't become so caught up in those cushy lifestyle streets, the real world isn't waiting for you will you are on vacation.
In one procrastinating session of mine, a couple of weeks ago, I heard on the Spongebob show (really good entertainment if you just want to waste time) Squidward tell Mr. Krabs "Why do today what you can do tomorrow?" And Mr. Krabs' reply to that statement was:
"What is Today but Yesterday's Tomorrow?"
Such profound words, six words which if they stood alone have no deep meaning, but placed together...they are mind blowing...
What is today but yesterday's tomorrow... no matter how long you put things off until tomorrow, eventually..they will be done on a 'today.'
I have to say, its not easy, but knowing your goals, is a serious motivator. Think of all the things that will result of you not doing an action in a timely manner. Now think of what will happen if you did it, without putting it off?
The putting it off reaps rewards for the now, but the doing it now ..well that reaps rewards for your future. Whether it be in time, cash or something as simple as peace of mind.
So don't put off what you can do today, until tomorrow...it really just fills up your tomorrow.
Here's to positive people!
Queen of procrastination here! :)Only way anything gets done with me is writing it down and checking it off ahaha
ReplyDeletelol that is something i have to do as well, helps if i put a time frame next to the item, keeps it in the scope
ReplyDeleteAin't nothing better than kicking back although I haven't gotten to do it much in a while. At least not as long as I would like too. Sometimes it is good to kick back. Just attack whatever you put off with extra force to make up for it. It's a give and take.
ReplyDeleteAnd Mr. Krabs only care about money so I am not surprised. I'm with Squidward.
