Execution

Thought I would share an example of the steps in action. Today was a mid term exam ,I studied for this exam and was feeling prepared. I got up and said what up?! feeling all calm and sending out a positive vibe. I Thought about my day, in particular the pending exam (you may want to focus a little more intently on the major 'events or plans' that you have in your day when you are on the thinking step.)

I went through the material I had studied. Got into the exam, saw the first section and it was nothing I had even remotely seen or noticed while I was studying! Immediately I went into a panic...why had I never seen this information before, was I even in the right exam...then I slowly calmed down and counted to ten, just to try and erase the panic and went through the rest of the paper.

Some stuff was becoming familiar as I went through the paper, so I implemented my contingency plan and instead of starting with the first section (which still had me stumped) I did the sections that I knew, building confidence as I went on. By the time I got back to the first section some of the information was beginning to make sense and I was able to answer some of the questions (not all unfortunately) and in my book, making an attempt and failing is better than failing without making the attempt...the exam is in God's hands now and hopefully I will still pass :)

The steps of achieving a better day, aren't going to ensure you have success, they are about giving you the tools to manage the events of your day. Success comes from the hard work and hard work requires focus, these steps are to help you focus.

So what is step four. It's execution. Execution means that if your day is going good, stick through with your plans and if you have to implement your contingency plan, ensure that you follow through with your actions  to match your words.

We have all heard the saying talk is cheap and that actions speak louder than words. That's the execution step in a nutshell. Its all fine and dandy to say that you will go to the store but if you do not get up and go (doing so to the best of your ability) then your positive attitude and thoughts are just worthless things you do to make yourself feel good.

There is never anything you can not do, If the mind can think it the body can do it and if your body cannot do it on its own, there are tools. Example: man wanted to fly, the mind thought it, the body wanted to do it but was unable to on its own, then the mind thought of airplanes and BAM...man was flying.

So get up and say what up, think about your plans for the day, if a crisis comes up don't panic and create you contingency plan and finally execute  so that your actions match your words...one more step and  you will have an idea of how to achieve a better day.

Here's to positive people!

  1. Good Going. I really do believe panic creates a lot of unnecessary problems.
