I have often wondered why when my life is at what, I think is it's lowest, why people always say there is someone worse than you out there.
Why should I need the ideology that someone is worse off than I am in order to comfort myself...more importantly, why should you?
The knowledge that there are people worse off is a comfort, yes, but it should never be a big source of your comfort (if it is, take an 'am I evil' test)
You've probably heard this saying (it was in a Kirk Franklin song) but joy comes in the morning. As much as we want to wake up happy and stay that way for the rest of our lives, it's not always the case.
So how to handle those sad moments that creep up upon us. This post is all about generating happiness from within yourself.
For some this comes easy, for others it will be abit hard.
I'm always being told I live to the radio that plays in my head, always seem to be hearing music, dancing a jive in the street, keeping noise and constantly in a good mood. However, there are times when I have a what I like to call 'ugly' periods..and the person closets to me is always the first to say that that attitude isn't me and that I should calm down..cease..and decease.
And that person is right, it's not a good look on me and you can rest assure that its not a good look on you. It's how you deal with those periods in your life that allows for you to generate happiness.
Many people have said go to your happy place. And it is awesome advice. When life feels impossible and like it is just a miserable cesspool of sorry happenings one after the other, think of that time in your life where everything in the universe came to a standstill and your mind took a snapshot of your life at that single point.
For example, my happy place is the beach not far from my home, sitting on a rock, during high tide and watching shoes get covered by the water. When my life is a confusing mess and I can't tell where one problem ends and another begins, I think of that moment.
After finding your happy place, just take a few moments and think through all that is bombarding you. I like to think of it as my bomb shelter time, in the war time of life. It provides you with a way to put each problem in its place and to find the best possible solution to deal with each problem, and also it helps to place them in order of importance. When everything comes at you all at once, a small problem suddenly seems like a major problem.
To generate your happiness, after accomplishing these mind calming things, is all about your ATTITUDE
Your mind determines your happiness, If you see things as an unsolvable problem, your attitude becomes bleak, and the sense of overwhelming hopelessness will envelope you and just like that your happiness is gone.
Keep your mind positive and your happiness will flow. Not stressing the little things in life will help you, and approaching all problems with a 'yes I can' attitude, will enable you to see how life becomes a brighter and happier place.
It wont erase any stumbling blocks from coming your way but it will aid in how you get through those times with a smile on your face.
Here's to positive people!
